Course Description

Microbiology

Microbiology is a broad discipline that involves the study of the biology of bacteria, viruses, protozoa and fungi. The main focus of our course is the pathogenic potential of the organisms that cause disease in man; also covered are aspects of the biochemistry, physiology and genetics of microorganisms.
Recently, our knowledge of how microbes function has expanded enormously, both in the disease process and at a molecular level. Genetic engineers are using bacteria and viruses to clone eukaryotic genes to study and treat human genetic disorders. Vaccines are being developed for diseases such as AIDS, Legionnaire's disease and listeriosis. In the areas of biotechnology, agriculture and food production, microbes are continually exploited for the benefit of man.
Microbiologists are needed to do the research required for the future battle against diseases worldwide and in order to exploit microbes in the production of food.
You will spend your first year learning fundamental concepts before specializing in microbiology topics in your second and final year.

Bsc Physic

This degree provides students with excellence in teaching and learning in an internationally competitive research environment. Graduate with a thorough knowledge of Physics upon completion of the programme, along with the transferable skills that will enable you to fulfill your career aspirations. Lectures, workshops, tutorials and lab sessions combine to give a stimulating and challenging course, covering the full core aspects of Physics in years 1 and 2. Cutting-edge courses linked directly to the research of the School provide depth in year 3, and the ability to study industrial applications of Physics, as well as Medical Physics, Math or Philosophy provides breadth. Your final-year, independent research project will give you an understanding of the scientific research process and the skills needed to be a research scientist. Physics degrees are highly prized in the flexible labour market of today and our graduates have excellent career opportunities in academic research, industrial research and development, teaching, computing, business and finance. Core physics topics include: Newtonian Dynamics, Wave Phenomena, The Material Universe, Working with Physics, Practical Physics and Maths for Physics, Electromagnetism, Condensed Matter, Quantum and Atomic Physics and Nuclear and Particle Physics.
A wide range of options is available including Medical Physics, Astronomy, Statistical and Low Temperature Physics and Surface Physics. You will also take Mathematics, Computing and Experimental Physics modules in support of these studies. The programme includes a one-semester project in one of the research groups.

Bsc Biology

Bsc Biology is the undergraduate biology course. Biology is the natural science that is concern with the life and living organism, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, distribution and taxonomy, function proprieties and entire study of the processes of all forms of life (Bsc.Biology) degree courses includes the study encompassing the five unifying principles of Biology namely cell theory ,evolution, genetics, homeostatic and energy. The (Bsc) Biology course provides the complete training in the organism and their relationship to their environment. The duration of the course is 3 years and the course is job orienting and career providing in nature. The basic eligibility for pursing this course is qualifying (10+2) or equivalent examination in the science stream with the minimum 50% marks secured in Biology subject and/or in aggregate from a recognized board of the country. Bsc Biology degree serves as basic further higher studies in the field such as Msc, Phd and Mphil degree in Botany as well as in Zoology, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-technology, Food Science, Bio Medical Science, Genetic, Molecular Biology, Micro Biology, Environmental Sciences, Virology, Texicology etc, the successful completion of which makes one eligible for the post of the lecturer in any universities/colleges. Bsc Biology degrees have plenty of opportunities in the field of Research and Development, Pharmaceuticals and chemical industries, Public Health and Environmental protection Sectors, Clinical Research, Waste Management etc. They have also options in Research and Development and can become research associate. It allows carrying out experiment under the instruction of established scientists.

BSc Mathmatics

If you’re studying mathematics at undergraduate level, you’ll probably undertake a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mathematics. A few institutions in India also award the Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) degree – but the difference is usually only in the name. Most undergraduate mathematics degrees take three or four years to complete with full-time study. Some institutions offer a Masters in Mathematics (MMath) as a first degree, which allows students to enroll to study mathematics to a more advanced level straight after completing secondary education. Some institutions arrange placement years for students to work in industry, providing opportunities to apply mathematics skills and knowledge in a real-world setting. The departments offer an extensive Bsc (Hons) mathematics programme. The Programme provides a strong foundation of pure and applied mathematics. In addition to this, the departments offer a wide range of core and open electives courses to the B.tech  programme. Bsc (Hon) Mathematics is programme of 3 years. Mathematics is typically taught through a combination of lectures and seminars, with students spending a lot of time working independently to solve problems sets. Assessments vary depending on the institution; you may be assessed based on examinations, practical coursework or a combination of both.

Bsc Chemistry

The issue of sustainability and the impact of our daily lives on the environment is of ever-increasing concern. In order to meet the demands of a sustainable future the chemical industry is adopting new, more environmental-friendly processes which have resulted in the term "Green Chemistry". We tend not to think about chemistry in terms of separate branches of chemistry, instead we prefer to adopt a more interdisciplinary approach. Consequently, modules are designed to combine elements of organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry to provide cohesive units that demonstrate the interdependence of each. The same is true of laboratory classes where experiments are designed such that you will utilize a number of concepts and techniques in order to study chemical processes. Chemistry provides an important understanding of our world and how it works. Through an understanding of the chemistry of materials we can design and manufacture drugs to fight disease; computer chips to enhance communication; pesticides to protect our health and crops; fertilizers to grow abundant food; fuels for transportation; fibres to provide comfort and variety in clothes; plastics to package food and replace worn-out body parts; and much, much more. However it is becoming increasingly more apparent if we are to continue to enjoy the lifestyle which is so heavily reliant upon chemicals then we will have to give more consideration to the impact that this has on our environment. Chemistry-based research is focused on Materials Chemistry within the Centre for Materials Science. As a result, specialist areas in Materials Chemistry provide a focus for study in the final year and topics include nano-structured materials, surface science, and catalysis and polymer science.
