Pharmacy


While studying Pharmacy it will typically take modules focusing on chemistry, human biology and physiology, pharmaceutics (how medicines are made) and pharmacology (how drugs interact with the body). Most pharmacy degrees combine academic research with more vocational training and professional pharmacy skills, such as learning about legal and ethical issues, and how to interact with patients. We can learn all about prescriptions, drugs, medications and clinical practice, and practice responding to different scenarios. As we study pharmacy, it may have the opportunity to specialize in a particular type of role (such as new medicine development or patient care), or in a particular field of medical care (such as infectious diseases, or care of the elderly). 

B.Pharmacy    


Bachelor of Pharmacy or B.Pharm is an undergraduate degree course in Pharmacy. The students who are interested in the medical field can choose this course after the completion of class 12th. After the completion of this degree, the students can practice as a Pharmacist. This duration of this course is 4 years.
The B.Pharm is one of the popular job oriented course  among the science students after class 12th. In this course the students study about the drugs and medicines, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry etc. This course provides a large no. of job opportunities in both the public and private sector.
There are various career options available for the science students after the completion of B.Pharm degree. The students can go for higher studies in the Pharmacy i.e. M.Pharm and master of Pharmacy. This field is one of the evergreen fields in the medical sector, with the increasing demand of Pharma professional every year.


M.Pharmacy    


Master of Pharmacy is a Post Graduate Degree awarded for a program in the field of Pharmacy. It is also called M.Pharm. The program duration is two years. There are four semesters in the M.Pharm program. Examination held at the end of every semester. The course offers many practical elements like instrumental techniques, research methodologies, new areas and pharmacy-based operations etc. the aspirants who need exposure to pharmacy can study the M.Pharm program. Many institutes are offering the program across India. After the program, the aspirants may get a chance to go and work in foreign nations. Once a candidate finishes the M.Pharm program, they can go for advanced studies such as PhD in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and M.Phil etc. M.Pharm  program offers chances to gain practical skills. The candidates can improve their communication skills and confidence after the program. The program covers many specializations. Aspirants can choose any of the specialization based on their preference. Aspirants who have completed Bachelor of Pharmacy with not less than 50% of marks are qualified to apply for the M.Pharm program. The aspirants must have done their graduation from a recognized institute. For SC/ST applicants, the qualification is a pass in the B.Pharm. The admission done through an entrance test named ‘Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test’ (GPAT). GPAT is an all India exam. Those who are qualified to apply for the M.Pharm program can write the entrance exam for getting admissions into the Pharmacy institutes. Either aspirants can collect the application from by online or offline based on their convenience. After filling the application forms, the applicants should send it to the respective authority with the copy of NET/GATE score sheet. The selected applicants based on the entrance test are called for an interview.
 

Pharm D


Pharm.D course introduced by the Government of India and the Pharmacy Council of India in 2008. The Pharm.D program is a pre-PhD, post-graduate professional doctoral program. It was introduced to improve clinical pharmacy services in India and it is the only pharmacy service which is in direct contact with patient health care system. The first batch of Pharm.D post baccalaureate students graduated in August 2011. The Pharm.D degree requires five years of classroom and hospital based didactic study (two years didactic post-baccalaureate course), followed by one year of internship training in addition to ongoing practical and research project. With reference to Clarification on Pharm.D qualification, it is clarified to all universities that Pharm.D is a post graduate degree and passed out students can directly register for Ph.D From 2012. Pharm.D course comes in two types:
•    One is Pharm.D course with duration of five years and besides this students will have to work as an intern or do the residency for 1 year.
•    Second one is Pharm.D (post Baccalaureate) where in the duration of the course is 3 years including 2 years theoretical study plus one year internship or residency as per PCI.
Pharmacy Council of India is the sole body that decides the number of admissions taken for the Pharm.D course. It differs from time to time. Currently it offers admission for 30 seats in Pharm.D and 10 Seats for Pharm.D (PB) every year. The course does not confine to theoretical study alone. It broadens its programme towards penetrative laboratory experiments and many research objects. Only few colleges in India offers Pharm.D course recognized by PCI.
