Florence College of Nursing
Florence College of Nursing in the supervision of Florence Group of Institutions was established in 1984. The Institute pledges to provide a good education with correspondent to strict discipline. The college maintains positive work culture that ensures good reputation of the institute. There are four different courses provided by this college which are General Nursing and Midwifery, Basic B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing. The institute is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and is approved by the Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council.
Florence College of nursing and Florence Group of Institutions are supported by Devanahilli Rural Education Trust. The aim of the institute is to produce professionals in any field. The institute provides adequate knowledge and skill to give the required care to the students to make them the most qualified nurses amongst all of the others. The college focuses on overall development of the students. The students get exposure to modern teaching methods and infrastructure.
The institute gives proper training to make independent nurses who are able to correctly interpret every situation. The students are encouraged to promote and practice healthy living. The vision of the group is to nurture young people in an excellent environment to boost their academic and professional capabilities. The faculty members are well- trained and experienced. They provide modern educational facilities and good infrastructure to the students. The institute teaches the students to be the best in their academics and practices. The students are given proper knowledge about nursing concepts and the current developments brought in the field of nursing.
Florence College of Nursing not only focuses on academics but also on other curricular activities. Seminars and workshops are held to enlighten the students about global issues; proper training programs are organized to give adequate knowledge to the students. Community health programs like health checkup, school health programs, pulse polio etc. are also initiated to give first-hand experiences to the students. This college also has its parent hospital named Florence Poly Clinic & Diagnostic Centre.
Certificate Diploma Course
General Nursing and Midwifery is a diploma course of 3 years duration which is followed by internship of 6 months. The nurses of this field are in charge of taking care of women during their pregnancy and the post pregnancy period. The aim of this course is to render nurses who are highly skilled and qualified who contribute to the healthcare system as a crucial member. Midwifery is a field that is related to female health issues, during pregnancy, childbirth and after childbirth period. Nursing is a very noble profession. General nursing includes of general health care given in hospitals, clinics, school, colleges, military etc to sick people.

- 35% aggregate in Pre-University Examinationt

B.Sc. nursing is a 4-year course which marks the entry into the nursing profession. The basic concepts and theories related to the nursing field are made familiar to the students over this course. The course is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. This course aims at training professional nurses for curative and rehabilitative healthcare skills. The students pursuing this course are required to be highly motivated toward nursing profession. This course prepares the graduating nurses to become independent and responsible professionals to promote the healthcare services. The college ensures to produce a capable batch of nurses who are professionally trained and are compassionate.
- B.Sc. Nursing
- Candidate should have completed the age of 17 years
- Candidate must have good command and understanding of English language
- Candidate must have secured 45% marks in PCBE subjects
- Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination
Post graduate degree in Nursing is a 2 years full-time course taken after completion of B.Sc. Nursing course. This course is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and is approved by Karnataka Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council. This program nurtures the nurses to develop leadership qualities in their field. The nurses of this course should be able to practice nursing profession independently. This program gives the students basic concepts for the future development of the graduates. The fields of specialization offered under this course are:
- M.Sc Nursing
The specialization is done by the nurses who work in patient care units, ambulatory care units, surgical centers, emergency care units etc. The nurses of this specialization deal with the health of adult patients. The nurses of this field are to study about medicines as well, as they are to look after the medication of the patients.
This area of nursing deals with women in their age from puberty till menopause. The nurses of this field give care to women who have health issues regarding their reproductive system like during pregnancy, child labor, birth etc. The nurses of this area work in maternity wards.
The nurses are to pursue a diploma or a degree related to women’s health and obstetrics to become OB/GYN nurses. Minimum of 2 years of experiences is needed to sit for NCC Inpatient Obstetric Nursing certification Examination and become a certified OB/GYN nurse.
The nurses trained in this area are involved in healthcare of the community. They work in rural and urban community healthcare centers. The community health nurses are responsible for the health of an entire community. To become a community health nurse, one needs to be a registered nurse by getting a degree and by sitting for the exam of National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. The nurses also need to have work experience for several years.
This area specializes in giving healthcare to infants and children. The nurses are given training in giving care to children or infants with health issues. To practice nursing of this area, the nurses needs to be a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree.
also known as mental health nursing is a course where the nurses specialize in mental health and care for people who are suffering from mental illness. Nurses of this area get training in psychological therapies. A psychiatric nurse is required to be a registered nurse and specialize in mental health. This type of nurse work in mental institutes, psychiatric hospitals, mental asylums etc.

- Candidates who have completed B.Sc. Nursing or PB B.Sc. Nursing Course
- 50% aggregate marks obtained in B.Sc. Nursing or PB B.Sc. Nursing
- Minimum of 1-year work experience required certified under Indian Nursing Council
- No work experience required for students of PB B.Sc. Nursing
- Should be a registered nurse
- Candidates should be medically fit
- Age limit is 48 years
